Well, our wait is over for now. Last week we were able to spend some significant time with our colleague, Wilson Phang, who went to Haiti with CURE International from February 1 to 8. He was able to serve their immediate needs and it doesn’t seem likely that we will be called upon to go to the Dominican Republic in the near future. There is a possibility that a local team will go to Haiti to serve through a different agency a couple of months down the road. And we might be invited to participate on that team. But for right now, we are turning our focus toward Missions Emphasis at our church and toward finding the remaining financial and prayer partners so that we will be free to go and minister when the Lord puts opportunities before us.
Opportunities that we are considering for this year include Central Asia in the spring, China in late summer and UAE and Africa in late fall. If the Haiti trip materializes, it might fit between the first two of these three.
I am also continuing to work on putting together Not Coincidentally, a collection of true short stories about God showing up in surprising ways. I hope to get the publisher nailed down by the end of March.
